LESSON PLANS FOR MRS. CHERRY

ELC / IE LIBRARIES 02/19/18 – 02/23/18

DUTIES:           Parent Pickup Monday-Friday 3:20

5th Grade Lunch Duty Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday 12:25-1:00

MONDAY, TUESDAY, & WEDNESDAY  

(Kindergarten classes Tuesday 9-11:15 - Black History)

8:40-11:55 ELC Library – Continue to promote Redbud Read Aloud books to teachers and students.  Begin prep for Read Across America Day, 03/02.  Normal library duties include but not limited to:  teaching students to use the library by finding books that are appropriate and of interest using the reading level/color-code system and Dewey system, check books in and out, re-shelve books, develop a book order list appropriate for students and staff, downloading MARC records, processing new books, repairing and weeding current books and other materials on inventory as needed, checking inventory and ordering other necessary library materials as needed, ordering and preparing for GameFace sales, and consulting with administration and staff for school and classroom needs that can be provided by the library.

Lunch duty 12:25-1:00 (Tuesday & Wednesday)

1:00-3:20 IE Library – Pack up & prep Book Fair for shipment on Tuesday 2/21.  Reconcile all Book Fair records with Scholastic.  Begin prep for Read Across America Day, 03/02.  Prepare for 3rd Grade Reference Lessons, 3/05-3/08.  Continue to promote Sequoyah books and prepare for Sequoyah Book Award school vote, 3/13-3/14.  Normal library duties include but not limited to:  teaching students to use the library by finding books using the Dewey system that are appropriate and of interest, check books in and out, re-shelve books, develop a book order list appropriate for students and staff, downloading MARC records, processing new books, repairing and weeding current books and other materials on inventory as needed, checking inventory and ordering other necessary library materials as needed, consulting with administration and staff for school and classroom needs that can be provided by the library, maintaining Computer Lab and coordinating classroom use of Computer Lab.

THURSDAY:

(Kindergarten classes Thursday 9-11:30 – Black History)

FRIDAY:

8:15-9:30 Gameface sales for 1st, 2nd, and Kindergarten.  Begin reconciliation & prepare for deposit at Admin as time allows.  Normal library duties include but not limited to:  teaching students to use the library by finding books using the Dewey system that are appropriate and of interest, check books in and out, re-shelve books, make sure Pre-K has requested and necessary library items, develop a book order list appropriate for students and staff, downloading MARC records, processing new books, repairing and weeding current books and other materials on inventory as needed, checking inventory and ordering other necessary library materials as needed, preparing for Game Faces as needed, consulting with administration and staff for school and classroom needs that can be provided by the library.  Continue working on inventory, repairs, and administrative tasks to facilitate library use by students and staff.

9:35-10:45 IE – 4th Grade Block Class – Give quick review on book talks and how to use iPad for video.  Allow any students who are ready to give their book talk, be sure to video (students will video). As time allows, students who have completed their video book talk will review their video, critique it, and tell the class their strengths, weaknesses, and areas that need improved.  Weekly lesson:  Literature appreciation – share a variety of books over the topic of snow.  Discuss the authors, illustrators, genres, writing styles, reading levels, strengths, and weaknesses of each book.  This is a process that will take several weeks; will likely only share & discuss 1 book each week.  Students will complete a paper on each book after class discussion. (RWSR)

10:45-11:55 ELC Library – Pick-up PreK Gameface sales.  All Gameface sales must be counted and deposited at Admin. Continue to promote Redbud Read Aloud books to teachers and students.  Begin prep for Read Across America Day, 03/02.  Normal library duties include but not limited to:  teaching students to use the library by finding books using the Dewey system that are appropriate and of interest, check books in and out, re-shelve books, make sure Pre-K has requested and necessary library items, develop a book order list appropriate for students and staff, downloading MARC records, processing new books, repairing and weeding current books and other materials on inventory as needed, checking inventory and ordering other necessary library materials as needed, preparing for Game Faces as needed, consulting with administration and staff for school and classroom needs that can be provided by the library.  Continue working on inventory, repairs, and administrative tasks to facilitate library use by students and staff.
