OBJECTIVES

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The students will play an unpitched instrument accompaniment on the strong beats.  The students will perform an unpitched instrument accompaniment with quarter and half notes.  The students will move with a beat in a 2 meter.

 The students will sing a song in two parts, patting with the steady beat during the refrain.  The students will sing a song using un pitched instrument accompaniment.

PROCEDURE

  1. Listen to “I Saw Three Ships” CD 7:3 singing along on the words on Christmas Day and on Christmas Day in the morning, beginning with verse 2.  Perform an unpitched ostinato on instruments.

  2. Sing “Go Tell It On The Mountain” CD 7:5  Listen to the song and name the places mentioned.  Describe what the song is telling about.  Sing song patting with every beat, then with patting every two beats for half notes.

  3. Listen to recorded lesson CD 7:7 “Pronunciation for El Noi de la Mare”  Sing song CD 7:6 breathing at the end of each two measure segment. Compare each two measure segment.  Choose to movements and sing song.

  4. Sing favorite Christmas songs.

  1. Listen to “Must Be Santa” CD 5:27 p. 240  Tap the pattern on palms on the first four phrases.  Name the clues about Santa from each verse.  Form two groups, one group asking the questions by singing lines 1 and 3.  Other group answers with lines 2 and 4.  All sing refrain together.

  2. Listen to “Jolly Old Saint Nicolas” CD 5:28  Decide who is having a conversation with Santa.  Echo speak then echo sing each verse until they are known.  Identify parts in each verse that would be effective if sung softly.  Add instruments.
